The ReturnerA man rises up out of the waves of a mountain lake. He quakes and shivers as he wanders ashore, not bothering to look back to see the inferno left in his wake. He walks to higher ground and dries himself, looking up to the clear night sky. He whispers softly, to some unheard voice, “it is done”. He hangs his head down, his attention focused solely on the glowing shore across the water. The flames dance across the night sky as wood and stone burn and crackle. The Fall“Fuck. . . yeah, that’s gonna leave a mark.” He grumbled to himself, lurching sideways onto his back. He had landed on his side, thumping to the floor after slamming into the bedroom doorframe. He’d tripped over a set of wiring, sending large frame stumbling forward into the hallway. He blinked, looking up at the ceiling, drawing a few raspy breaths. He groaned to himself, trying to focus his vision amidst the pain and confusion, trying to take stock of what had happened and what to do now.

It's been a while since I last posted on DA, both in my journal or any work. I've been fighting with a malfunctioning ticker, working my way through some of life's little jokes, and been forced to push back some plans. As GLaDOS said, "I'm still alive".
